Utility
Outage/Water or Gas Leak
- If
a utility outage/leak is discovered by an ESD employee,
he/she should follow these procedures:

Report the incident to your supervisor.

Contact the switchboard receptionist (425.917.7600) who will notify the Facilities department and the Superintendent.
Corrective
action is listed below:
-
Electrical Outage : Shut down
electrical equipment-especially computers.
During outages affecting more than one department,
the superintendent will determine corrective action
and provide directions.
- Water
Leak : Notify the receptionist and do
what you can to contain the leak.
- Natural
Gas Leak :
Small Leak
(when odor can be detected but the location
cannot be determined)
- The
Facilities office should be notified.
- The
area should be ventilated by opening doors and windows.
Large Leak (the
odor is significant and the leak is easily located)
- Notify
the receptionist (425.917.7600) who will contact the Facilities department and the Superintendent.

Evacuate the facility.
- Notify
the police/fire department by calling (9) 911.
Report your name, the exact location (Puget Sound
Educational Service District, 800 Oaksdale Ave SW,
Renton, and your location in the building), and
information about the incident.
- The
facility should be ventilated before reentering
by opening doors and windows.
